By this time of year, most of us are really sick and tired of winter. We are looking forward to warmer weather; being able to get back outside again, and just in general try to get over our cabin fever.
We really need to sweep away the cobwebs of winter.
What better way to do that than to have a Spring themed party?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Party invitations
    Party invitations

    Here's the invitation:
Come to our party on the __________of ___________2009 at_________am/pm
You are asked to dress in your best under age 10 clothes. Bring your own baby or childhood photos. Children are welcome for this event.
There will be contests and games and fun for all.
This is a party to Welcome Spring and to get rid of old man Winter.
    RSVP.

The cards can be made in the shape of the triangular diapers, only made with paper and pinned shut with a tiny safety pin. You can get these at craft stores. Stick these inside envelopes.

  2. Step 2
    Party balloons
    Party balloons

You can get a helium kit at a party supply kit to fill balloons. Decorate with a lot of balloons and streamers. Use the tiny clay pots, filled with florists foam and place a silk daffodil in each one. Use these as place settings at the table. Put an egg shaped name tag in each one.

  3. Step 3
    Nice glass of iced tea

The menu should consist of soft foods, such as soup and possibly finger foods, such as a veggie tray and a spinach dip. Cocktail wieners in a barbecue sauce in a crock pot would round out the meal. If you want more, add mac and cheese, or maybe mashed potatoes. As for drinks; serve coffee, iced tea, and lemonade. No alcohol. It is for (children) remember?
The idea being food and drink (except for coffee) that children would like; as children, in an abstract way, represent spring.

  4. Step 4
Pin the tail on the donkey?
Pin the tail on the donkey?

    Games to play
What would a child's party be without Pin the tail on the donkey? You can get these at party supply stores. Or maybe make up your own; pin the tail on ex-President Bush maybe? Have a photo enlarged of President
    Bush downloaded from the Internet.
How about dunking for apples? Musical Chairs? The old Piñata? Only filled with coins (small coins) instead of candy)
For the finale, the plastic Easter egg hunt; only this one a little more sophisticated. By that I mean, you don't want them to be as easy to find as you would if they were children. Hide them before the party in maybe 2 or 3 rooms in your home; or if weather permits, outside.
The one who finds the most plastic eggs, wins a prize of a Spring Flower Arrangement.

  5. Step 5
    Spring is here!!!!!
    Spring is here!!!!!

This should not be a very expensive party to host, and what fun this could turn out to be. A lot of grown-up people acting like children and getting into the spirit of being young again and celebrating the beginning of Spring and the end of Winter.

Tips & Warnings
  • Everyone should have the party hats and whistles to blow.
  • There should be a cake as well.
  • How about a Twister game?
  • Charades?
