You can tile the ceiling of your bathroom

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • tiles
  • mastic ceramic tile glue
  • 1/4 inch notched trowel
  • chalk line
  • measuring tape
  • lead pencil
  • tile cutter wet or dry
  • tile snipper
  • sponge
  • bucket of water
  1. Step 1

This is based on four inch tiles, on the ceiling hold a piece of tile up to the ceiling against the walls and mark the end of the piece of tile with your pencil.

  2. Step 2

Put the piece of tile up on the other corner of the ceiling with the same wall from the other ceiling corner and mark the end of the tile with your pencil

  3. Step 3

With your chalk line snap a line between the two mark, supposedly this line represent the end of the first row of tile.

  4. Step 4

In the middle of the ceiling hold a piece of tile up on the ceiling with the edge of the tile against the chalk line. If the wall is bowed out then move your chalk line closer to the wall and cut the first row of tile

  5. Step 5

Scoop up the mastic with your trowel using the flat side of the trowel spread the mastic along the side of the chalk line toward the middle of the ceiling, spread it about 1/2" thick.

  6. Step 6

Use the notched side of the trowel and take off the access mastic leaving the mastic at 1/4" thick from the ceiling. Let the trowel ride against the ceiling scraping off the access.

  7. Step 7

Start laying your tile one row at a time, you can start on the middle and spread out on both side because you still may end up cutting the tiles on all corners.

  8. Step 8

After laying your first row right on the chalk line, on the end of each row use your measuring tape and measure from the tile edge to the wall, mark it on the tile and cut it with your tile cutter.

  9. Step 9

Finish laying all the tiles then you let the glue set 24 hour and its time to grout the grout lines.
