Do you want to be tan for Springtime? Sun tanning/bathing in the sun can lead to premature aging and cancer. So why not fake it!? Over the years tanning lotions have become better and better. Now you can easily achieve a beautiful golden tan the healthy way without the orange palms and streaks. Follow the tan tips below to be tan for Springtime.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Exfoliate skin in the shower before applying sunless tan product once a week. Use bath scrub gel, nylon mesh exfoliating bath gloves, a loofa, or even a shower gel on a poof will work, depending on your skin. Be gentle with the scrubs, do not hurt yourself, but exfoliate well concentrating on dry areas like hands, feet, knees, and elbows.

  2. Step 2

Start off with gradual tanning lotions.
Replace you regular body lotion with a bottle of gradual tanning lotion, they are goof-proof. Test out different lotions to find one what you like best, by color and fragrance. Try to find one with SPF built right in, so you can protect your skin from the sun and get tan at the same time.

  3. Step 3

Find a tanning lotion for yous skin type if you want to go darker than a gradual tanning lotion. Think about how much you want to spend, there are good tanning lotions at the drugstore and good ones in the department store. Check resources for a tanning forum to gain reviews of lotion based on your skin type. Rub regular body lotion on your feet, knees, elbows, and hands before applying sunless tanning product. Practice application method with drugstore sunless tanning lotion and then try a stronger solution in step 4.

  4. Step 4

Gain the darkest longest lasting tan by using a tanning solution from a tanning salon supply store. Buy a airbrush tanning solution product which has the higher DHA ingredient(darkens you tan color), than any tanning lotion. Mix the tanning solution into your regular body lotion or apply the watery solution directly on your skin using your hands or a body sponge. Apply strong tanning solution two days in the row or wait an hour and apply again. Rub on gradual tanning lotion the rest of the week to keep up your tan color.

  5. Step 5

Buy your own tanning equipment, such as the spray on tan booth and a large bottle of the tanning solution. Tanning yourself can be complicated at first, but with practice you will get the golden tan you desire. Ask someone to help you, if there are any willing helpers nearby.

  6. Step 6

Go to a professional tanning salon or pay someone to come to your house to spray on your tan for less hassle. Practice and patience is needed to get good at anything, it is the same thing with fake tanning. Paying someone can be more expensive, but it is easier and better if you are getting frustrated.

  7. Step 7

Reapply sunless tan product every 5 to 7 days before the fading starts. Exfoliate your skin again and repeat the tan tips above. Keep your skin moisturized for longer lasting tan with regular lotion or gradual tanning lotion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wash your hands quickly after each body part
  • Follow directions on bottle
  • Tan faster and darker with a airbrush tanning solution product, which also dries faster than a regular sunless tanning lotion
