Use Good Etiquette at a Bachelor Party

This article provides a brief summary of the etiquette surrounding bachelor parties.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Organizing and planning a bachelor party:

Bachelor parties are typically organized and hosted by the best man. Typically, the best man and the groomsmen split the cost of the party. When planning a bachelor party, take into consideration the groom's interests and personality and plan activities that will allow him to relax and take his mind off the stress of his upcoming wedding. It is proper etiquette to consult the groom first before finalizing plans for his bachelor party. Remember that party is to honor of the groom. Thus, the foremost piece of etiquette to remember during a bachelor party is to honor the groom's wishes and requests. Do not push him the groom into doing anything during the party that makes him feel uncomfortable.

  2. Step 2

The groom should not have to worry about anything during his bachelor party except relaxing and enjoying myself. If you are the best man or a groomsman, help pick up the cost of the groom's food and drinks. Try to have activities scheduled ahead of time, so the groom does not have to make any major decisions for the group. He will have enough planning to do for the wedding and should not have to coordinate the events of bachelor party as well.

  3. Step 3

    Etiquette during the party

Since bachelor parties are intended to be a happy celebration, it is good etiquette to stick to pleasant topics of conversation during the event. Avoid discussing stressful, unpleasant, or controversial subjects. Bachelor parties are a good time to share memories, jokes, and stories, not to debate polarizing topics such as politics or religion.

  4. Step 4

If a female entertainer will be performing at the bachelor party, it is proper etiquette to treat her like you would any other employee at the party, with respect. With all hired entertainment, food, beverage staff on hand, be sure to tip them and designate beforehand which member of the groomsmen will take care of payment at the end of the night.

  5. Step 5

If alcohol will be consumed during the party, enjoy yourself, but to limit your consumption to a reasonable amount. Getting overly intoxicated is stressful for everyone and may lead to arguments, dangerous situations, or decisions you might regret later. When the plans include alcohol, the best man or a groomsman should arrange for a designated driver beforehand if they anticipate that public transportation will not be available after the party. The designated driver should always be someone other than the groom since it is his night.
