    to make home made ginger bread take 1 cup of shortening, half cup black molasses, half a teaspoon of salt, 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of ginger, 1 cup surgar, 2 eggs, 1/4 teaspoon of soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, mix, add 1 cup of boiling water, stir well, bake slow in large pan at 300 degrees for 45 minutes.

    to make home made indian bean bread take 4 cups of cornmeal, half teaspoon of soda, 2 cups of cooked beans, and 2 cups of boiling water.
    put cornmeal in bowl, mix in drained beans, hollow out a hole and put in soda and water, make stiff dough enough to form balls, drop balls into pot of boiling water, cook about 45 minutes or until done. serve with cooked greens and pork

  3. Step 3

    to make home made cracklin bread take 2 cups of cornmeal, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 1 cup of cracklins, mix and add enough hot water to make into dough thick enough to shape into small loaves. bake at 400 to 450 degrees for about 45 minutes. its a good idea to use fried pork skins with the least fat for cracklins
