Things You'll Need:
- scrapbook sheets
- construction paper
- pictures
- stickers
- sentiments
- glue
- craft scissors (any design)
- sequins, borders, molds, etc.
- anything you would like to add to your page
-
Step 1
Shears that will cut with designs makes for useful borders.Think about the theme of your page. Is it for you? Your child? Is it a gift? After thinking about your theme start putting things together. You will need a background, borders for your pictures, stickers that add more character to you theme, some of them are cartoons and some are words (eg. "it's your lucky day", "a day to remember")and maybe some construction paper to add depth to your photo or the whole page it self.
-
Step 2
After picking the theme of the page cut the scrapbooking page to its proper size (the size of the album it is going in). Then start putting everything in place without permanently fixing them. You want to play with things a little to make sure that you can fit everything that you want in to your page and that is looks the way you would like it to.
-
Step 3
Choose a border that will add a contrast to your pictures. You don't want them blending in. The whole purpose of making the scrapbook is for the pictures or the memorabilia that you are putting together for sentimental purposes. If you have pictures that are darker in color use a lighter background, if the pictures are lighter in color than use a darker background etc.
-
Step 4
Construction paper pieces! When you have finally gotten the look that you are trying to achieve have you digital camera ready and take a snap shot of how everything looks. This way you won't forget while you are starting to glue things down and place down your adhesives. Take a pencil and draw light lines around the corners of your pictures so that you can place them exactly where you would like them (this also makes it easier if you are putting in the corner slots to hold the picture instead of gluing it down).
-
Step 5
After you have traced all your corners on your pictures start putting them in to place. You don't have to use glue, there is a gum available in the scrapbooking section of any art stores or your nearest Target or Walmart that can hold down the picture without having to use regular glue. I tend to put some type of border around a few of my pictures or some construction paper cut outs that I cut out beforehand to add variety. This would also be a good time to use your craft shears on the edges of your pictures.
-
Step 6
Scrapbooking can be a little pricy so take your time putting everything together. It can be a very enjoyable experience because this is after all your own personalized creation. Feel free to add sequins and sticker, letters, stamps, make cut out construction paper pieces to put in other places that you feel would make more of a statement to your page.
-
Step 7
Sometimes simplicity is the best policy. Don't try to put too much on to the page, if there is more save it for another page in your scrapbook. The more you play around with scrapbooking the better you get and the more creative you become. You will also find that as you get more in to the hobby you will figure out more tricks of the trade so to speak. Good luck!
