Things You'll Need:
- conditioner
- hair dye
- shampoo
-
Step 1
You can dye your hair red at home. To keep your color longer use a good quality hair dye.You get what you pay for. Spend the money for quality dye, it will still cost less than going to the salon. Red hair dye tends to not hold well and fades quickly. Getting your hair dyed at the hair salon will make it last longer but if you want to save money you can get good results at home. Go to a beauty supply store to buy your red hair dye. Choose a shade that compliments your skin tone. There are so many shades available today. Consider adding highlights also. Combining a dark shade with lighter red highlights looks really good. Get creative and experiment.
After applying your red hair dye and waiting the correct amount of time, rinse it as directed. Apply a good amount of deep conditioner. Leave conditioner on hair for 2 minutes. -
Step 2
Rinse conditioner from hair but allow some conditioner to stay in your hair.
dry and style hair as you usually would.
The first thing that I do to keep my red hair color from fading too fast is to not wash it. Washing your hair will make the color fade. Wash every third day. When you do wash your hair use a shampoo made for red hair. There are many available today. Use a conditioner for red hair and a leave in conditioner is recommended for curly or dry hair. -
Step 3
If you still find your red hair color is fading there is another trick to hold on to your red color. Mix a small amount of red hair dye and add to your shampoo. Mix well and shampoo into hair. Leave on hair for 5 minutes and rinse out. Apply some leave in conditioner and style as usual.
