A bottle of rubbing alcohol might be all you need. You can dampen a cloth with alcohol and wipe the entire surface of a purse with it. This simple procedure may remove paint stains and mildew. For the interior of the purse you can attach a sprayer from a window cleaner bottle for example, and spray a mist into the purse. Spray all areas. Alcohol dries in minutes and you should be ready to go.

When the easy cleaning method didn't finish the job, it's time for round two. For any stains, such as paint, that didn't come off, apply finger nail polish remover to the stained areas. For serious paint stains that won't go away, 100% acetone should finish the job.

After you've finished cleaning the purse, yet it still has odor, such as mildew or a cigarette smoke smell, spray the entire purse with vinegar inside and out. After you sprayed the purse with vinegar, spray it with alcohol or wintergreen alcohol.
