1
To get the best results from a ceramic straighter, start with hair that is completely dry. Using a straightener on wet hair will fry hair and not work to straighten hair.
-
2
Take the top layers of hair and pin either on top of the head or over to the opposite side of where you are going to being straightening.
-
-
3
Take small sections of the bottom layer of hair and spray with heat protecting spray. Sometimes a ceramic straightener will come with a bottle of heat protecting spray with it is purchased. Spray lightly so the hair does not become damp.
-
4
Being straightening the hair in small sections. Separate hair into thin sections. The thinner the section of hair, the better it will straighten. Hold the section away from the head with one hand and use the ceramic straightener to clamp it with the other hand. Immediately pull down on the section of hair, letting the iron gently flatten the hair. Don't pull on the hair but rather, let the weight of the ceramic straightener do the work. The heat from the straightening iron will do the work.
-
5
Continue straightening the bottom layer of hair by following step four until it had all been straightened.
-
6
Let another thin section of hair down and repeat step four with the entire layer. It is best to straighten each section of hair as you let it down so it stays separate from the already straightened hair.
-
7
Repeat steps four through six until all sections of hair have been straightened with the ceramic iron. To keep the sleek look of straight hair, use a straightening serum or gel for dry hair.
