Things You'll Need:
- Adobe Reader software (free download from internet)
- Microsoft Office Publisher software
- Internet access
-
Step 1
Open Microsoft Publisher (I'm using the 2007 version for this example) and open the document you wish to convert to Adobe PDF format.
-
Step 2
On File menu, click Publish as PDF or XPS NOTE: If this option doesn't appear on your menu, continue with Step 3. If it does appear, skip to Step 12.
-
Step 3
On File menu, click Find add-ins for other file formats.
-
Step 4
On the Publisher Help menu page that appears, click on Install and use the Save As PDF or XPS add-in from Microsoft.
-
Step 5
Click on the hyperlink in step one of the Publisher Help document, and your internet browser will open.
-
Step 6
On the Microsoft website, click on Download to install the PDF or XPS Add-in.
-
Step 7
Click on Save File in the Opening SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe dialog box, and choose where you want the application saved. ( I chose my Local Disk "C" drive/Program Files/Microsoft Office so I'll be able to fund and run the application in the next step.)
-
Step 8
When the .exe dialog box closes, the Publisher Help menu is still displayed. Close the Help menu, and close your internet browser.
-
Step 9
Double click on the application file SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe, an click Run.
-
Step 10
Click on accept Microsoft Software License Terms, then click Continue.
-
Step 11
The application goes through its installation process and the Installation is Complete dialog box appears. Click on Ok.
-
Step 12
On the File menu, choose Publish as PDF or XPS...
-
Step 13
In the Publish as PDF or XPS window, click on the Change button. In the Publish Options dialog box that appears, choose the best file size. In this example, I have chosen Standard so the file will be suitable both for emailing and for printing. If the publication will be distributed only online, click Minimum size. If the publication is to printed only, click High quality printing. Save your document.
-
Step 14
Click Publish and a separate window opens in Adobe Reader with your document saved as a PDF file!
-
Step 15
You can now print, save, or email your PDF document directly from the Adobe Reader window.
