Know if Your Spouse is Cheating

Just a suspicion that your spouse is cheating can make you feel helpless, angry, and frustrated. Confused about whether you have a cheater on your hands? The following lists common characteristics of a cheating spouse. Short of getting a confession or catching your spouse in the act, there is no clear way to know that your spouse is unfaithful. If this list raises red flags, talk to your partner. Snooping around will only make things worse.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Your spouse is no longer interested in having sex with you. Although your sex life might have been on the downturn for a while, when you spouse is cheating, he or she might become completely uninterested in sex with you.

  2. Step 2

He or she suggests having a threesome or when they have never been interested in this before.

  3. Step 3

Your spouse is regularly receiving phone calls that he or she leaves the room to take.

  4. Step 4

He or she is using a significant amount more cell phone minutes.

  5. Step 5

There has been a pattern of hang-up calls, but only when you answer the phone.

  6. Step 6

He or she is spending more time online than usual. They might also close computer windows when you walk by, password protect their accounts, and clear their browsing history.

  7. Step 7

Your spouse is suddenly ringing up large credit card bills.

  8. Step 8

He or she has taken a sudden interest in their appearance. Perhaps they are working out, got a new hairstyle, or bought new clothes—but they are not making an effort to impress you with their new look.

  9. Step 9

They are suddenly spending more time at the office, leaving earlier in the mornings and staying later at night.

  10. Step 10

Your spouse gets defensive or angry when you ask where he or she has been or when you ask about details of their day. He or she might also go into excessive details when talking about where they have been.

  11. Step 11

To cover their tracks, a cheater might say that he or she has made a new friend or taken up a hobby. Also, if your spouse has taken sudden, deep interest in an existing friend of their preferred gender, this can be a red flag.

  12. Step 12

He or is becomes emotionally distant and is reluctant to talk about what is on their mind.

  13. Step 13

Your spouse appears unhappy and restless when they are at home for long periods of time.

  14. Step 14

He or she picks fights and then uses the argument as an excuse to leave the house.
