In the 80s, it was all about volume. To be the coolest girl in school, you had to have the biggest, fluffiest, highest bangs. Whether you want to relive your days of glory, rock an awesome Halloween costume, or you just really like the look (it's OK, don't be ashamed), here are the steps you need to take to achieve the BEST 80s bangs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fine-tooth Comb
  • Curling Iron
  • Aqua Net Hair spray
  1. Step 1

Obviously, you must have relatively thick bangs to pull off this look. If you aren't willing to commit, I suggest a wig. But assuming you have enough bangs to work with, plug in that curling iron and let it start heating up. It's best if your hair isn't freshly washed so it will hold the style better.

  2. Step 2

Separate the top layer of your bangs and roll them onto the curling iron, away from your face. Hold in place for a few seconds.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the bottom layer of your bangs around the curling iron, rolling them down towards your forehead. Again hold in place for a few seconds.

  4. Step 4

Let hair cool, then tease your bangs using the comb. Fan them out well - you don't want the two sections you curled to look separate.

  5. Step 5

Liberally spray bangs with Aqua-Net. You can use another type of hair spray, but it just wouldn't be as authentic. If necessary, tease some more - you will be able to achieve even more volume as the hair spray has stiffened them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to hold curling iron in place too long - you don't want to burn your hair! 80s hair may look crispy, but it's not literally fried.
