Things You'll Need:
- Pen and paper
-
Step 1
Forget the past. Today is a new day and YOU choose how you view yourself. What others have said about you is irrelevant. You are in control of how you see yourself. Stop blaming others for your lack of self-esteem. Others cannot build it for you or take it away-you decide that.
-
Step 2
Everyone has flaws. We all make mistakes. Don't let your downfalls determine how you view yourself as a person. Mistakes are learning opportunities so learn from them and move on.
-
Step 3
You are a unique individual. There is no one else on Earth exactly like you and you cannot be replaced. Draw off what makes you a unique individual. Make a list of what you like about yourself and what you feel are your strong points. Be proud of your interests and don't fear what others may think about them.
-
Step 4
Do what you were meant to do. Did you let your parents or others determine what you would become in life? Did someone else choose your career for you? You will be a sufferer of low self-esteem if you not only hate your job, but aren't any good at it either. Discover what interests you and what you are good at and then pursue what career you were meant to have. Don't quit your current job until you have one to replace it-you need an income to pursue your dream job. Know that your current job is funding the better future that awaits you.
-
Step 5
Love yourself. Before you can love others well, you must first love yourself. Focus on the good things about yourself, not the bad. Strive to correct your flaws and bad habits but don't focus on them to the point that you hate or loathe yourself. Do you best, always. You can't ask more from yourself than your best.
