    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • 8 oz. semisweet chocolate
    • 12 aluminum foil baking cups
    • Microwave
    • Small spoon
    • Microwave safe mixing bowl
    • Baking sheet
    • Plastic wrap
    • Refrigerator
    1. Instructions

      • 1

Place 8 oz. of semisweet chocolate into the microwave safe mixing bowl. If you are using chocolate in a bar form, break the chocolate into smaller bite size pieces; breaking the chocolate into smaller pieces helps the chocolate melt evenly and prevents it from burning.

      • 2

Place the microwave safe mixing bowl in the microwave and heat the chocolate for two minutes on the high setting. After one minute, remove the bowl and stir the chocolate with the spoon to further the melting process. Place the bowl back in the microwave and continue melting the chocolate on high. After two minutes, remove the chocolate from the microwave.

      • 3

Begin assembling the edible chocolate cups. Place a spoonful of melted chocolate into one of the aluminum foil baking cups. Use the back of the spoon to work the chocolate around the entire baking cup. Apply a thicker layer of chocolate to the bottom of the baking cup to provide stability to your dessert cup. Continue this process for each of the baking cups. Once you have finished lining the baking cups with chocolate, place each cup on the baking sheet.

      • 4

Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and place the baking sheet into the refrigerator. Leave the baking cups in the refrigerator for one hour. After the hour has elapsed, remove the chocolate cups from the refrigerator and check them for firmness. If the cups are still tender to the touch place them back into the refrigerator for an additional 15 minutes. Allow the chocolate cups to fully solidify and become firm before moving on.

      • 5

After removing the chocolate cups from the refrigerator, remove each of the chocolate cups from the aluminum baking cups. Begin by placing one of the cups in one hand. Use your free hand to gently peel back the aluminum baking cup. Work slowly as you peel back the aluminum foil to avoid breaking the chocolate cup. Continue this process until you have released all of the edible cups.

      • 6

Check the cups for missed spots. Carefully examine each of the cups for holes, which are problematic if you plan to serve a dessert with a loose consistency such as a mousse. Fill any holes by melting the additional chocolate, per step 2, and applying it to the holes. Refrigerate the cups until firm.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use white chocolate or dark chocolate to create additional cups or decorate your semisweet chocolate cups.

    • Use small containers with different containers, such as a paper cup, to create different textures on your edible chocolate cups.

    • Avoid burning the chocolate by keeping a close eye on it while it is in the microwave. Burning the chocolate will make it taste bitter.
