Create an Easter Basket on a Budget

An Easter basket does not have to cost a lot of money. With some creativity, and perhaps an Easter basket-making party, you can create a basket for less than $20.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Craft items around the house Basket or empty strawberry carton Empty strawberry carton Stickers Paint Paper Glitter Glue
  1. Step 1

Browse through your craft items at home, such as sewing supplies, paper, buttons or anything that you can use to create a handmade basket. You may already have a basket that you can use to make an Easter basket. Be sure to check any fruit that you've purchased, such as strawberries, which have a crate that can be used to make mini baskets.

  2. Step 2

Use buttons, stickers, and paper that you find at home and add them to your basket to decorate it for Easter. Use shredded colored paper to make Easter grass to put inside of the baskets. If you have a shredder at home, you can run some paper through it or shred it yourself with some scissors.

  3. Step 3

Shop at discount stores such as Dollar General or Dollar tree for Easter candy and any little games or toys to add to the Eater basket. Most of these items can be purchased for $1. You can also find small, affordable coloring books and crayons, too. Make homemade coloring books at home by printing black-and-white Easter coloring pages off of the Internet and stapling them together.

  4. Step 4

Make decorating your Easter basket fun by gathering together with other moms and their children to have an Easter Basket-making party. Tell everyone to bring one or two supplies and accessories so you can share. Set out some treats, play some music and let the children help decorate their own baskets, choosing from the accessories and supplies that everybody brought. Be sure to add a letter to the Easter bunny as well.

  5. Step 5

Check for the "after Easter sales" when the holiday is over to purchase items for the next year. Items can often be bought for half of their original price.
