Things You'll Need:
- Will to change habits
- Releasing fear related to there "not being enough time"
-
Step 1
GET OUTSIDE AND BREATHE. You may think there's not enough time to take a 10-minute walk outside or get a breath of fresh air, but the reality is that taking this break will recharge you and actually have the effect of slowing down time because you are approaching your day from a calm and centered place instead of feeling scattered, anxious, overwhelmed and like you're running on empty.
-
Step 2
STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING. When you feel stuck, take a break and walk away. Get a drink of water. Make a phone call to a friend. Listen to a song. Do a meditation. Stretch your body. A time out is a great remedy for overloaded brain tantrums and congestion.
-
Step 3
GO BACK IN TIME. Ditch technology for a day. Turn off your computer, blackberry, iphone, video game and whatever other distracting and time wasting gadget you have at your disposal. A break from the electromagnetic fields can actually give you a boost in energy, helping fatigued, drained feelings that can be created from too much computer/technology use. Read a book, take a walk, draw, do something creative or take a bath. Go back in time and take a simple day.
-
Step 4
SCREEN CALLS AND EMAILS. If you need more time to yourself, screen your calls and emails. Checking emails and answering long winded calls you're not up for can take up a lot of time. Delegate a day to clearing up your in box so it's not zapping your time every day.
-
Step 5
TREAT YOURSELF. During your busy day, take a moment to treat yourself. Buy tickets to a show or game you've wanted to see, get your nails or hair done, get a massage...no one will give you time to yourself, you have to create it. Treating yourself during a busy week will lighten up your load emotionally and put you in a better frame of mind to cope with stress and get things done more efficiently.
-
Step 6
DELEGATE. Whenever possible, delegate. Delegate the small stuff, especially. Delegate the things you don't like to do or may not feel are where your skills are best used. If you don't feel there's anyone to delegate to at the moment, delegate to your guardian angels who will help lift your burdens in wonderful ways and open up your schedule to have more time for you.
-
Step 7
STOP JUDGING YOURSELF. Stop living by the clock and judging yourself by what you did or didn't do. Read some books on time management and learn how to take charge of your schedule instead of feeling that your schedule is in charge of you. Use the time you have doing what feels right for you. If you need time to rest, do it. If you need time to write, do it. If you need time to heal, take it. If you need time to think, use it. If you need time to start a new project, create it. Time is as flexible as your mind will allow it to be. Make time work for you.
