Hoew to Get Smoky Eyes

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eyeshadow, brown, grey, green, black, blue, or any other color you like, eye pencil in a dark color
  1. Step 1

First you'll need to choose an eye shadow that is dark in color, this however, does not mean that it has to be black. Greens, browns, navy colors, as well as many others will work just as well. After you have selected the color of choice, you will need to apply the color from your lash line to your crease using a sweeping motion. Make sure to go slightly above the crease until you reach the brow bone. When you reach the crease of your eyelid, you can use a motion similar to windshield wipers. I feel this motion is easy to master and gives you a seamless look, with no harsh lines.

  2. Step 2

After applying your shadow, you will need to also apply the shadow to your lower eyelash line, using a slanted brush or some other type of small brush. Gently sweep it across the lower lashes, not worrying about perfection as you will have to smudge it anyway. Next, take your fingertip or a q-tip and smudge the eye shadow slightly.

  3. Step 3

Now you will need to take the eye liner pencil and draw a line above your upper lashes, getting as close to the base of the lashes as possible. When you reach the outer corners, you can also swipe the liner upwards, to give a sexy cat eye look. Also, put liner on the inner rims of your lower lashes. This is where the smoky effect really comes in. Line the inner rims completely.

  4. Step 4

Lastly, apply two coats of mascara to your lashes. Try a volumizing or lengthening mascara if you really want to add to this effect, and make sure to use a black mascara for extra drama.
