Step 1
After you've signed up for your free Twitter account (it's simple and self-explanatory), found some friends or strangers to follow and be followed by, and begun updating, explore all the different ways you can "tweet" (fancy Twitter lingo for "post"). The Twitter applications page off the Twitter homepage has apps for the iPhone, the iPod, Google Desktop and other software you may use. All of these applications were created to fit the needs and preferences of Twitter users.
-
Step 2
If you don't have Internet capabilities on your mobile phone, sign your phone number up so that you can text updates to Twitter. This is a great service for when you're on the go and away from a computer, but really need to tweet. It's a good memory tool, too! When you sign into Twitter, navigate to "Settings" and then to "Devices." There you will find information about Twittering from your cellphone.
-
Step 3
Ever wonder about who other people enjoy reading about? Make a Twibe. Twibes.com is a website that asks Twitter users to choose 10 people they "find the most interesting, entertaining, undiscovered, or inspirational." You then use other's top 10 lists to find popular Twitterers to follow.
-
Step 4
The "That's what she said" joke has reemerged in popular culture thanks to the television show The Office. Have some fun and read all the tweets that are replied to with the "That's what she said" phrase, at the website Thatswh.at.
-
Step 5
Popacular.com/twitter/ is a website that keeps track of webpages that many people are mentioning on Twitter. What's the newest buzz on the Web? There's a good chance that if it's neat and it's online, people are Twittering about it.
