A great mortgage broker has access to many banks and lending institutions. A great mortgage broker will be able to get you a mortgage that fits your needs quickly and without much hassle. You will want to interview several mortgage brokers in order to find a great one that fits your needs.

  1. Step 1

    Start building a list of 3 to 5 mortgage brokers. Look at the billboards around town that look appealing to you. Go through the classifieds and find the nicest ads. One of the best ways to find a great mortgage broker is through references. Ask around, a realtor is a good source for finding a great mortgage broker. Since a mortgage broker gets all of their business through referrals they will want to do a good job for you. If they don't you can always tell your realtor and the mortgage broker will never get another referral from that realtor.

  2. Step 2

    If a mortgage broker is a great then you should be able to get them on the phone easily. If this is difficult, move on to another mortgage broker. Once you get them on the phone. Tell the mortgage broker you are looking for a mortgage broker that has plenty of experience and has lots of lending institutions with whom they deal with be very upfront with them.

  3. Step 3

    Ask the mortgage broker what banks and lending institutions they deal with. The more relationships he has with lenders the better.

  4. Step 4

    Ask how long he has been a mortgage broker. Five years experience is the minimum.

  5. Step 5

    Once you have narrowed your choices, choose a mortgage broker that you like and feel comfortable with. This is one of the best ways to find a great mortgage broker.
