How to Make Bowling Shirts for Kids

How cute are these?

During my Bowling thematic unit I have the kids wear homemade bowling shirts, which are both inexpensive and easy to make. I do not let the kids keep them at the end of the unit or the year, so that I can reuse them each year. In fact, the shirts pictured below have already lasted me over 13 years. Here is how to make some thrifty, long-lasting bowling shirts for your kids.

Instructions

1. 

   Buy some regular Catholic school uniform shirts. They are incredibly cheap.

2. 

   Dye the shirts. I have four different rotation groups in my class of 20 kids, so I dye the shirts four different colors.

3. 

   Create homemade iron-ons and iron them onto the shirts. If you want the shirts to be extra cute, you can write silly names (e.g. Mo, Petey, The Crusher) on the pocket of each shirt.

4. 

   Create silly group names and make the iron-ons out of bowling clip art that you can grab online.

5. 

   Create another silly group name and make the iron-on out of bowling clip art that you can grab online.
