How to Find Free Audiobooks and Play Them on Your iPhone or iPod Touch
Your iPhone or iPod device offers many forms of entertainment, including the ability to listen to recorded audiobooks. You can find free, downloadable audiobooks on various websites. Once you have download an audiobook, you will need to open it in iTunes. Connecting your iPhone or iPod to your computer will allow you to transfer the audiobook file to your device and play it from the Music menu.

Launch your Web browser and navigate to a website such as Books Should Be Free, Project Gutenberg or Free Classic Audio Books.

Browse the website's library to find an audiobook. Most websites list audiobooks by genre to help you conveniently locate titles of interest.

Click the name of an audiobook and then download the file in iPod format. The file may be listed as an "M4B" or "Apple iTunes Audiobook." Depending on the website, the file may launch directly as an iTunes download or it may download as a .zip file.

Right-click the audiobook file, click "Open With" and choose "iTunes." This will launch the file in the Books section of your iTunes library. If an audiobook downloads directly to iTunes, it may also be listed in the Podcasts section.

Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer with the USB cord supplied with the device. ITunes will auto-detect your device.

Click on the audiobook in the right pane and drag it to your device name in the left frame. The book will be transferred to your iPhone or iPod.

Turn on your iPhone or iPad and tap the "Music" button.

Tap the "More" button in the bottom right corner, then tap "Audiobooks" or "Podcasts" to find your book.
