Things You'll Need:
- A set amount you want to set aside for your vacation(s)
- A place to put it where you won't "dip" into it
- Determination and drive to save
-
Step 1
Pack it up!Even with the current economic state, many people are still going to enjoy a vacation theis year. The deals are great and all you need are the funds to pay for it. Saving for your vacation starts with how much you are willing to put aside EVERY week in order to accomplish this. This article gives you a few ways to save for your family vacation.
-
Step 2
Start with small expenditures such as your morning coffee, can you make it at home? Five days a week at around $2.50 per day adds up to $12.50 per week. How about lunch, at an average of five to seven dollars a pop, once a week is great, you can add another twenty dollars to your pot. Just with these two small items you save around $30 per week.
-
Step 3
Small shopping sprees, if your going to do them, do it efficiently. Many of the large department stores have coupons, discounts and special days you can save money. Use these to your benifit.
-
Step 4
Cut your allowance. Fill your car up on the weekend, get your lunch items for the week and you won't be at the store several times a week tempted and buying things you don't need.
-
Step 5
Earn a few extra dollars and sell some items around the house that you don't or won't use on Craigslist or Ebay. Have a yard sale and get rid of things for cash. You can also earn a few extra dollars online for a few hours such as filling our surveys or selling items online.
-
Step 6
Take your extra money and put it away! Whether it be in a bank account or in a envelope in your home safe, save it and don't touch it. This is money you would have spent on things that you have nothing to show for, make your work worthwhile and save your money for a family getaway.
