Surely you've heard about people who "flip" houses for a living. Flipping a house can be tedious, back breaking work - but there is a much easier flip that you can do for profit. This flip is called a domain flip and basically all you do is buy a quality domain name and sell it for a profit. In many cases this can be a very large profit. Below is a list of ways to get started as a domain flipper.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  1. Step 1

First off you will need a place to buy your domains, GoDaddy is an excellent choice for beginners to the world of domain flipping. Don't just start buying any domains - it is a good idea to go through the domain auctions on GoDaddy.com and see what is selling and for how much. Remember, you may buy 10 domains for $10 each at a total price on $100 and you may only wind up selling one of those ten domains, but you could sell that one domain for $500. That would still be a profit of $400. Where else can you get this kind of return on your money?

  2. Step 2

Next you should join the domain flipping forums at dnforum.com and namepros.com - there are tons of people willing to answer you questions on these forums and you can get a lot of quality information by sorting through old threads.

  3. Step 3

Choose a category of domains to target, in other words some domain flippers will choose names that end in "forum" - i.e. baseballforum.com, fishingforum.com, etc. The domains that end in .com are the most valuable, followed by .net and so on.

  4. Step 4

Be patient and grow your collection of domain names. Each time you purchase a domain name you cannot expect to sell it immediately, you may purchase a domain today and renew it three years in a row before finally selling it for $1,000. The more quality domains you own - the more likely you are to create future sales.
