How to Use a Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine

To make espresso in your Mr. Coffee espresso machine, you must first make sure that your espresso coffee is correctly ground. It should look like salt. If it looks more like flour, the water won't be able to flow through it and you will have a very hot mess to clean up. If you don't grind the coffee finely enough, the water will run through too fast and won't take all the flavor with it. Once you have ground your coffee correctly, follow the steps below to prepare it.

1. Check that the red power switch is off and that the side knob is set to the "Off" position. Fill the reservoir with cold water and close the lid.

2. Put the filter in the brew basket and fill it with espresso coffee. Close the brew basket and lock it in place.

3. Put your cup or a carafe under the brew basket. Press the red power button to turn the machine on, then wait until the green light stops blinking.

4. Press the "Brew" button and turn the side knob to the "Brew" position when the indicator light turns solid green. The machine will make your espresso. When your cup or carafe is full, turn the side knob to the "Off" position. Switch the power button off.

5. Wait for the unit to cool, then remove the brew basket and empty the grounds. Rinse the filter and brew basket in the sink before returning them to the espresso machine.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't open the brew basket while the machine is working--the water is extremely hot and may spill out and burn your hand.
