How to Format a Fuji XD Picture Card

Fuji digital cameras use Fuji XD picture cards to store photos that have been taken on the camera. XD picture cards can be formatted to ensure the safety of the card. Cards can also be formatted to fix errors on the card after it has been used. Formatting a card with pictures on it will erase pictures.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fuji XD picture card
  • Fuji Camera
  1. Step 1

    Place your Fuji XD card into the card slot on your camera and turn the camera on. The camera should be in active mode, meaning you can take pictures. Do not place the camera in "playback" mode.

  2. Step 2

    With the camera in "Picture Mode" press the "Menu Button" on your camera. A menu will pop up on the screen with several different menu options.

  3. Step 3

    Move the arrows to the right to scroll through the different menus until you find the "Options" menu.

  4. Step 4

    Scroll down on the options menu to the "Setup" prompt and press "OK." A new menu will pop up.

  5. Step 5

    Scroll down to the "Format" option in the set up screen and press "OK." You will be prompted about your selection and asked if you would like to format the card. Press "Yes" or "OK," whichever your camera shows.

  6. Step 6

    The camera will begin formatting the card. When the format is completed you will receive a prompt that the card has been successfully formatted.
