How to Remove Double-Sided Tape
Double-sided tape has been a convenience for many things. Unfortunately, because of its effectiveness, when you later decide to remove whatever is stuck, the tape may not cooperate. Residue from double-sided tape is often left on walls, mirrors and other things where it is now unwanted. Removing double-sided tape is successful in most cases when following one or two of the ideas below.

- Nail polish
- WD-40
- Mineral spirits
- Heat gun or hair dryer
- Steamer
- Goo Gone

Test in an inconspicuous spot before trying anything. This is especially true for painted objects, furniture and clothing. If necessary, let it dry before determining whether any damage was done.

Use household products. You can try nail polish (with acetone), WD-40 or mineral spirits. Apply directly or put it on a rag and rub away. Clean with a clean rag when done.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer. You may be able to melt the residue and scrape away with rag, putty knife or razor blade.

Use steam. You can try holding a steam iron up and then scrape or rub away the double-sided sticky tape.

Use Goo Gone or other products sold to remove sticky residues. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
