How to Fold Scarf Valances
-
1
Drape your scarf valance across your window hooks, making sure the right and left ends of the scarf valance are lined up. Decide where you want the folds to be on each side, measure how far toward the center each side is, and write down the measurement so you don't fold too far inside.
-
2
Lay your scarf valance horizontally out on a hard, flat surface (such as the floor). Make sure the back of the scarf (the part you don't want showing when it's hanging) is facing up.

3
Start at the far left end of the scarf valance and make folded pleats by folding the fabric toward you, then away from you until you reach your desired length. Use a fabric cord to tie the end of the folded pleat area loosely, enough so that it's just secured but not tight.
-
4
Repeat on the right side, starting at the far right and working your way to the desired length. Tie the fabric cord at the end of the folds as you did on the left side.
-
5
Place the scarf valance over the window hooks so that the shorter pleated ends face inward and adjust the valance until the ends match up. Untie the fabric ties and gently pull down the unfolded center of the scarf valance to get the look you want.

Tips & Warnings
To make the scarf valance less awkward to handle, you can continue to tie a fabric tie every 2 feet until you hang the scarf, then remove the additional ties.
