It can be a challenge to come up with fresh ways to serve ham for these get-togethers, but you can prepare a ham with delicious flavorings and a sauce to top it off for your guests to enjoy at your next holiday meal. Things You'll Need

  • 10- to 12-lb. precooked spiral ham
  • 1/2 cup cherry preserves
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cans pineapple rings or chunks, approximately 60 oz. total
  • 4 qt. Crock-Pot
  • Grill basting brush

Instructions

      Wipe the precooked spiral ham with a damp cloth.

      Place the ham in the Crock-Pot with the shiny side on top.

      Turn on the Crock-Pot and set it to cook for four hours.

      Whisk the cherry preserves with the water to blend well and produce a thick, syrup-like texture.

      Apply a thick coating of the cherry preserve mixture to the outside of the ham with the basting brush.

      Pour the pineapple chunks or rings around the side of the ham. Pour half the juices into the Crock-Pot and discard the other half.

      Pull slices of ham off the bone and place them on plates when the cooking time is up. Spoon the pineapple and cherry sauce over the slices of ham, along with several pieces of pineapple.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mix in the water slowly when creating the cherry sauce. Do not let it get too watery, because you want it to stick to the ham when you apply it. The moisture from the ham will make the sauce thinner, ensuring that the flavoring gets into the ham and not just in the sauce.

  • The outside of the Crock-Pot can get hot.
