Clean Pashmina Scarves

Pashmina scarves can be worn for years if they are properly maintained. The pashmina fabric is made primarily from the wool of goats indigenous to the Himalayan mountains. The wool is typically mixed with silk in either a 70/30 or 50/50 blend. Because they are made from natural fabrics, pashmina scarves do not have to be dry-cleaned and can be carefully hand-washed. Instructions

    • 1

Fill the sink with lukewarm water. Add a small capful of shampoo, swirling the water around so the shampoo dissolves.

    • 2

Place the pashmina in the water and let it soak for several minutes. Do not rub or twist the scarf, as this may pull it out of shape.

    • 3

Drain the sink and re-fill it with lukewarm water. Add a capful of hair conditioner and swirl the scarf around in it several times.

    • 4

Rinse the scarf thoroughly in lukewarm water.

    • 5

Lay the pashmina flat to dry. Avoid placing the scarf in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

    • 6

If desired, press the pashmina with a cool iron.

Tips & Warnings

  • To avoid pilling and tearing, be careful when wearing rough fabrics or jewelry next to your pashmina scarf.

  • Never bleach or scrub pashmina fabric.
