If your iPod Nano 4G has become an integral part of your everyday life, you know how easy it is for the small device to get damaged. If you need to repair your iPod or are simply curious about the technology that makes it work, Apple has made it relatively easy for users to take apart their iPod Nanos.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small Philips screwdriver
  • Small razor
  1. Step 1

On the top of the iPod, use the edge of the razor to pop the plastic bezel off. Use the blade again to pop off the bezel on the bottom of the iPod.

  2. Step 2

On the bottom of the iPod, use the Philips screwdriver to remove one of the small screws holding the dock module. Once you have removed the screw, pop the dock module out and then proceed to remove the second screw. Completely remove the dock module from the iPod.

  3. Step 3

Hold the iPod in your hand. Use your thumb to apply firm pressure on the bottom of the iPod window screen. While continuing to apply pressure, slide the window down and in. The top of the screen should pop out. Gently slide the LCD clip out of the top of the iPod and completely remove the window screen from the iPod casing.

  4. Step 4

Use the razor blade to pry the battery from the iPod case. Push the inner main board of the iPod out through the bottom of the iPod casing, just until you see the cable that is clipped to the clickwheel. Unclip the cable and then push the board the rest of the way out.

  5. Step 5

Remove the clic kwheel module by pushing it into the inside casing with your thumbs. The module should easily pop out.
