Installing a Glass Globe Light Fixture

Today's light fixtures are designed to be easy for DIY-ers to install themselves. There are also fixtures available that are designed to be more energy efficient so they will save you money. They are also very inexpensive.

Instructions

1. Remove all light fixture parts from the packaging to ensure the presence of all parts before beginning the installation.

2. Turn the power off to the circuit you will be working on.

3. Attach the fixture crossbar to the electrical box with the provided screws.

4. Connect the ground wires (green or bare copper), black wires, and white wires on the fixture to the house wiring using the provided wire nuts. Twist the wires together first in the clockwise direction before threading the wire nuts over the wires. Place the wires into the electrical box.

5. Place the fixture over the crossbar attached to the electrical box and use the provided screws to attach the fixture to the crossbar.

6. Install the light bulb. Carefully place the globe over the bulb and tighten the globe nuts until the globe is held snugly. Remember, the globe is glass, so do not over-tighten the nuts or the glass will crack or break.

7. Restore power to the circuit and test the light fixture.
