CD and DVD burners are common on newer computers, and it is common for data to be stored on CDs. The capacity and versatility of CDs allow for a variety of data to be stored on them. Because many people are used to using CDs for burning music, they might overlook the fact that it is just as easy to copy a data CD.

• CD burning software
• Blank CD

How to Duplicate a Data CD

1. 

   Launch your CD burning software. Most CD burners, whether they came with your computer or you added it after the purchase, come with a CD burning program. Check Resources for a listing of CD burning freeware, if you have a burner but no software.

2. 

   Click once on the "Copy" option.

3. Click once on the "Copy Disc" option.

4. Insert the data CD you want to copy into the CD burner drive on your computer.

5. 

   Click once on the "Copy" button after your CD burning program has finished reading the disc.

6. 

   Insert a blank CD into the drive when the program prompts you to do so, and then click once on the "OK" or "Continue" button.

7. 

   Using the options on your CD burning software, create multiple copies of the data CD or exit the program.
