How to Make Homemade Party Hats

Birthday parties and celebrations are fun, and using decorations like party hats adds to that fun. Party hats and other decorations can be expensive to buy at the store, but homemade ones are both inexpensive and add a personal touch. Party hats are easy and fun to make at home, and you can easily tie them to your party theme.

Things You'll Need

• Stapler
• 18-by-12 inch pieces of construction paper
• Scissors
• Markers
• Elastic string

Instructions

1. 

   Take an 18-by-12 inch piece of construction paper and cut it as pictured. You can draw it freehand, as it does not need to be very accurate.

2. Decorate the piece of construction paper with markers. Children can help design their own party hats.

3. Roll the piece of construction paper into a cone shape. Staple several times along the seam.

4. Cut a 6-inch piece of elastic string. Staple each end of the string to opposite insides on the base of the cone.
