Instructions

    • 1

Use commercial cleaning solution to remove old finish as well as dirt and mildew.

    • 2

Set pressure washer to 1500 PSI so you don't splinter the wood. Power wash the wood.

    • 3

Sand any areas that need to be smoothed out. Let dry.

    • 4

Brush water sealer on wood. Keep your strokes even and don't apply too much. It is easier to add sealer as it thins, than to smooth out uneven areas or drips.

    • 5

Allow to dry according to the recommendations on the label of the sealer.

    • 6

When dry, apply your chosen finish in the same fashion as you did the water sealer. If you are unsure of the finish you desire, test an area and let it dry to see if the final finish matches your desire. If not, choose another until you are satisfied. Clean the area and redo the water sealer.

While it isn't required, a paint sprayer can be rented from your local hardware store for a quicker and more uniform application of the finish.
