Instructions

1
Remove the damaged tip by unscrewing it. If it is a glue-on, you can apply several drops of acetone to loosen the glue. Then pry it off with a razor blade.
-
2
Determine if the ferrule (post holding the tip to the cue, generally a ivory-looking tube) is cracked, chipped or otherwise in need of replacement.
-
-
3
If the ferrule is in good condition, move to Step 6.
-
4
If the ferrule needs to be replaced, remove it as you did the tip with acetone and a razor blade. Be careful not to scrape the wood of the cue shaft.
-
5
Sand the cue tip shaft to remove any excess glue and smooth the surface. Add tip cement and apply the ferrule. Hold for several minutes until dry.
-
6
Once the ferrule is secure, you will place the tip on. If it is a screw-on tip, simple screw the tip in. If it is a glue-tip, add two drops of tip cement and apply tip. Hold secure and centered for several minutes until dry. Let the cue sit overnight to completely dry.
