Make a Trophy Baseball Holder

Whether you hit the game-winning home run, you got a baseball signed by your favorite player, or you caught the foul ball at the World Series, you've got a baseball that is a prized possession and you don't want to just throw it in the closet. You could get a baseball holder, but baseball holders and cases can cost up to $100. You can easily build a homemade trophy baseball holder with just a few supplies.

Things You'll Need

  • 4-inch diameter foam ball
  • Sharp smooth knife
  • Red nail polish
  • 3 Popsicle sticks

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the foam ball in half with the sharp knife. If you mess up while working with this half, you have the other spare half to use. Otherwise discard the other half.

    • 2

Lay a half of the foam ball flat on a table. Practice positioning the sticks in a 3-way X-pattern upright on the table before you insert them into the foam. They should hold a baseball as in the main picture. The X-pattern should form a 2- to 3-inch diameter area where the base of the baseball will rest.

    • 3

Insert the sticks into the top of the foam ball. Insert the sticks so only the flat sides will touch the baseball.

    • 4

Look at the baseball itself to examine how the red stitches look. Paint a simple half circle of stitches on each side of the foam ball with the red nail polish.

    • 5

Place the holder in a safe place. Set the ball in between the Popsicle sticks for display.
