How to Create a Thumbnail in Adobe Photoshop CS3

In the latest version of the Adobe Photoshop image editing software, known as Photoshop CS3, users can create a thumbnail of a picture using the "Save for Web & Devices" feature. Thumbnails are simply small, scaled-down copies of larger images. Users who are displaying multiple pictures on a website might want to create thumbnails of the pictures to fit them all on the same page.

      Open the Adobe Photoshop CS3 application using the Start menu on a PC or the Dock on a Mac.

      Go to the "File" menu and select "Open." Navigate to the image you want to create a thumbnail of and open it.

      Go back to the "File" menu and select "Save for Web & Device." A pop-up window with image saving options will open.

      Click on the "Image Size" tab in the lower-right corner of the pop-up window. Enter the smaller dimensions that you want for your thumbnail and make sure the "Constrain Proportions" option is enabled, so that the image is not distorted. Typical thumbnails are 100 pixels in height and width.

      Click on the "Save" button at the top of the pop-up window, enter a name for the thumbnail image, and then choose where to save the file. Photoshop will create the thumbnail version and save it to the location you specified.
