How to Make a Nap Mat Cover
If your child uses a nap mat during the day, it is wise to have a few extra nap mat covers on hand for the times that one or more may be in the laundry. Making these covers especially to fit your particular nap mat is an easy project that can be completed in a short amount of time. Choose a bright or colorful fabric in a soft flannel and make a few nap mat covers for your little napper.
Things You'll Need
- Approximately 2 yards of colorful flannel fabric
- Sewing Machine
- Sewing Notions (thread, pins, scissors, etc.)
- Tape Measure
- Needle
- Nap Mat

Measure the dimensions of your nap mat. Add 2 inches to each dimension.

Cut two fabric pieces the dimensions figured in Step 1.

Place the two fabric pieces together with right sides facing each other. Align all corners and edges and pin to secure.

Stitch the two length sides and one width side with a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

Turn the nap mat cover right side out. Push out all the corners so they are nicely pointed.

Insert the nap mat into the nap mat cover through the width side left open. Arrange the mat properly inside the cover.

Hand stitch the open side closed with a neat whip stitch to finish the nap mat cover.

Tips & Warnings
Buy an extra yard of fabric and make a small coverlet to go along with the nap mat cover. Make the coverlet by simply turning under the raw edges and sewing around all the sides of the fabric.
