Retrieve the software driver from the official Canon manufacturer's Website. You can do so by opening your Internet Explorer browser and typing the manufacturer's URL address into the search bar data form, located at the top of your browser. Press the "Enter" key on your computer's keyboard for redirection to the site. When the page loads, you will see a red navigation menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click on the "Downloads" tab on the site's navigation bar. There will be a drop box menu that will appear directly under the "Downloads" tab. Click on the "Consumer" option in the drop box. The page will then redirect you to a list of drop box menus regarding consumer products that will automatically reload with each option you choose. In the first drop box menu, click on the drop arrow and select "Scanners," then "CanoScan Series" for the second box. The last drop box menu will display a long list of product models and numbers. Locate your FB630U model, select it, and click "Go" to retrieve the software driver download.

Choose your operating system on the "Download" page. The red driver link will automatically appear directly below the operating system drop box. Click on the red driver link and select the "I Agree - Begin Download" option on the "End User License Agreement" which will appear on the following page. The "File Download - Security" popup window will appear and prompt you to choose an action to begin the installation. Click "Run" to begin the setup application. When the initial download application is complete, select "Run" again.

Wait while the component files automatically upload to your computer. Plug the Canon USB adapter plug into your first stage USB port. Your Install Shield Wizard will appear and begin searching for the newly implemented hardware component. Click "Next" on the Install Shield Wizard screen and the next screen will load with two radio button options. Click on the first, recommended option which should read "Search for a Suitable Driver for My Device," and click "Next." The computer will now search for the driver you just downloaded.

Review the steps listed on the screen that follows and check only the box with the option stating, "Specify a Location" and click "Next," at the bottom of the screen. When the next page loads, you will see an empty data form below the "Copy Manufacturer's Files" option. You will now type the location where your software driver is currently stored. The file location will be "C:\Temp\CanoScan." Click on the "OK" option to proceed. The Install Shield Wizard will now search for the driver's files.
