Who would ever have realized how useful the humble safety pin has become in everyday life? Not only is the safety pin a utilitarian object, it also has some fun crafting uses that many people may not realize.

One such use is in jewelry making. With a handful of safety pins, some colorful beads and stretchy elastic beading thread, you can make a stylish and attractive safety pin cuff bracelet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Safety pins (amount determined in Step 1)
  • Beads (make sure the holes are large enough to be placed onto the safety pins)
  • Stretchy beading elastic
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape
  • Tape measure
  1. Step 1

Measure your wrist. Multiply your wrist measurement by 10. The answer is the number of safety pins you will need to make the cuff bracelet.

  2. Step 2

Open a safety pin and place the beads onto the open pin. Fill the entire safety pin arm with beads and close the safety pin. Repeat with all of the safety pins necessary for your cuff bracelet.

  3. Step 3

Cut two lengths of stretchy beading elastic to the measurement of your wrist plus four inches.

  4. Step 4

Place one elastic length onto a work surface and tape the end down to secure.

  5. Step 5

Thread all of the beaded safety pins onto the taped length of elastic. Alternate the safety pins by top and bottom as you thread.

  6. Step 6

Untape the end of the elastic. Make sure the safety pins are all right next to each other with no gaps between them. Tie the ends of the elastic together with a tight overhand knot. Trim any excess ends of beading elastic near the knot.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Step 4 with the other length of elastic.

  8. Step 8

Thread the other length of elastic through the other end of all of the pins.

  9. Step 9

Repeat Step 6 to finish the safety pin cuff bracelet.
