Things You'll Need:
- Spare sewing machine needles
- Screwdriver
-
Step 1
Look at the area around the broken needle. There will often be a screw holding the sewing machine needle in place. Your machine should come with a special screwdriver specially meant for this screw. If not, you can also use a screwdriver.
-
Step 2
Loosen the screw holding the needle in place, holding the needle as you do this. Don't take the screw out entirely.
-
Step 3
Pull the needle out from the sewing machine.
-
Step 4
Roll your finger around the area where the needle had been placed. You should feel a little hole where the needle had been pushed into.
-
Step 5
Push your new sewing needle into the hole where the old needle was. This may take a few tries. Most all needles will have a flat end and a curved end which will correspond to the shape of the hole.
-
Step 6
Make sure to push the needle up as far as it goes and tighten the screw. Using the tension wheel, make sure the needle is hitting where it should. Once it is in the right place, continue sewing.
