How to Fax Internationally

In today's world, there are various options for sending information. One of those options is the fax machine. Fax machines enable people to send facsimiles or copies of information from one location to another. Faxes can be sent locally, nationally or internationally.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure that you have the correct international fax number of the person or place that you want to fax. Perhaps the person you are faxing has given you the number or you have seen the fax number on a website.

    • 2

Be sure that you have long distance international dialing capacity on the line you intend to use for faxing. If you are faxing from home, then you should know if you have international dialing capacity. However, if you are faxing from work, the fax line may or may not have international dialing or faxing capacity. Ask your supervisor to be sure.

    • 3

Check the country code for the person or place you are trying to fax internationally. Make sure that you have the correct country code by checking at a country code website (see Resources).

    • 4

Dial 011 and then dial the country code, and then dial the fax number. The number will ring and then you will hear a beep.

    • 5

Press the "send" key on your fax machine as soon as you hear the beep. That will send your page or pages through the fax. When all of the pages have gone through, telephone the recipient to make sure that he or she received all pages of the fax that you sent.

Tips & Warnings
