Things You'll Need:
- Small screwdriver
- Open range (100-yd. shots)
- Gun vice/shooting bench
- Rifle
- Ammunition
- Binoculars
-
Step 1
Put a target up at the end of the range and take aim down the sight of the gun. Center the target in the sight and slowly squeeze the trigger. Use the binoculars or walk up to the target to determine where you hit.
-
Step 2
Measure the distance to the side and up or down that the bullet missed the center of the target. For each quarter inch of distance on the target, you will need to move the sight one "click."
-
Step 3
Use the screwdriver to adjust the sight. Turn the windage (up or down) adjustment screw to the right to lower your point of impact on the target, and to the left to raise the point of impact. Likewise, when adjusting the point of impact to the left or right, turn the adjustment screw to the right to bring the point of impact to the right, and turn the screw to the left in order to make the point of impact go to the left.
-
Step 4
Shoot the gun again after adjusting the sight, and then repeat steps 2 and 3. Repeat this process until your shots are hitting the bull's eye of the target consistently.
