How to Use Webcams With Yahoo Messenger

Although Yahoo Messenger helps you connect to people all over the World Wide Web, instant messaging used in conjunction with a webcam takes communication to another level. Instructions

1. Log into your Yahoo Messenger account. Choose a friend whom you want to have a video conversation with on your contact list. Make sure they too have access to a webcam.

2. Click "Webcam" in the instant message window. Click "OK" when the terms of service agreement pops up.

3. Choose the type of Internet connection that you have. Remember any connection under high speed will result in a lagged video.

4. Click "Broadcast" when the webcam window appears. Click "Broadcast" once more to disconnect your video connection.

5. Go to "File" and select "Preferences" to change the quality and speed of the camera. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your settings.

• Be sure to ask how the video quality is when talking to someone on the receiving end.
