Instructions

Decide how long you want your necklace to be. One of the nice things about making a shorter necklace is that you can also loop it around your wrist for a bracelet. Longer necklaces can be 3 to 4 feet.

    • 2

Pick out your beads. Decide if you want many different colors or just one or two colors. You should also consider using a mix of magnetic and non-magnetic beads.

    • 3

Lay out your pattern. Take your beads and lay them out on a towel or other surface and decide what order you would like them in. Don't place magnetic beads to close together or they will attract each other and stick together.

    • 4

String your beads. You will need to tie a knot at the end of the thread or wire you are using for your necklace (big enough that the beads will be stopped by it). Next, add the beads in the order you want.

    • 5

Finish your necklace. Tie a loose knot at the other end of the necklace, and then gradually work it down so that it is flush with the last bead in your design. Pull the knot tight, and then connect the two ends of your necklace with another knot. Now your necklace is finished.

Add a clasp. Most clasps have two parts--a "male" and a "female" part, both of which have a small ring at the bottom. To use a clasp, make a small knot around the ring part of clasp, making sure each part is secured to the end of the necklace. Once each part of the clasp is knotted to the ends of the necklace, clip off the hanging ends. Put the two parts of the clasp together to complete the necklace.
