How to Make Your Own Seed Bead Earrings
Earrings can be made from seed bead sizes 11/0, 24/0 and 5/0--the sizes refer to the number of beads that can be strung in 1 inch--11, 24 or 5. The 11/0 size seed bead is the most common. The beads are sold in solid, mixed, translucent, opaque, matte and a luster finish. Specialty seed beads can be purchased that are silver, gold, bronze, copper and lined.
When using seed beads it is important to use a beading needle and beading thread. The needle is longer and thinner, while the beading thread is stronger than sewing thread.

1
Thread the needle with an 18-inch piece of beading thread. Do not double the thread when using it to string the beads. Tie a knot at the end.

2
String a 2-inch length of seed beads on the 18-inch string. Insert the beading needle into the first bead on the string and push it down to the top of the last bead strung. This will make a loop. String another 2 inches of beads on top of the loop. Place the beading needle through the first seed bead that formed the initial loop. Pull the top bead of the string down to the top of the loop. This will make a second loop. Repeat one more time for a total of three loops.

String a 1/2 inch of beads on the same string. Connect the top beads in the group of three loops to the top bead on the 1/2-inch string. Secure with a double knot and cut off any excess string. Attach the loop to the blank wire earring. Open the bottom metal loop on the wire earring. Place the top 1/4-inch loop on the metal loop of the earring and pinch closed. Repeat the process for the second earring.

Tips & Warnings
More loops may be added to the earring to make it fuller. Longer loops may be used depending on the desired look. Make the earrings out of all the same color beads or multicolored beads for a different look. A beading mat is helpful for keeping the beads from rolling away.
