How to Install an ATI X800 PCI Express Video Card
The ATI RADEON X800 is a PCI Express video card intended for use in desktop computers. It features 128 MB of video memory, a 392 MHz GPU clock speed, HDTV TV-out support and a maximum screen resolution of 2048 x 1536. The procedure for installing your ATI X800 will require you to open your computer case and connect the card to your system's motherboard. Depending on your level of experience, this may seem like a daunting prospect; fortunately, the steps for installation are straightforward and easily completed.

Turn off your computer. Disconnect the monitor, mouse, keyboard, power cord, peripheral devices and any other attached cables. Move your computer to a clean, well-lit area.

Unscrew the screws securing the side panel of your computer case in place. Slide the side panel off your computer case and set it aside. Place the computer on its side, so that you have access to its internal components.

Locate the PCI Express connector(s) near the rear edge of the motherboard. If necessary, remove the currently installed video card. To do so, unscrew the screw securing it in place. Disconnect any attached cables and push down on the lever at the end of the connector until the card pops free.

Examine the back panel of your computer. If applicable, remove the metal punch-out blocking the opening for your chosen PCI express connector. Insert the ATI X800 PCI Express video card into an available connector and apply firm pressure to the top edge of the card until it is fully seated. The lever at the end of the connector should lock into place.

Replace the side panel and screw it into place. Return your computer to its original location. Reconnect the power cord and all other previously disconnected cables. Turn on your computer and log into Windows as normal.

Insert the installation CD that came with your ATI X800 PCI Express video card. Open the installation program and follow the onscreen instructions. Installation is now complete.

Tips & Warnings
If you no longer have the installation software that came with your ATI X800 PCI Express video card, you may download an installer online (see link in Resources).
If you are removing an existing video card and it is still operational, store it in the same anti-static packaging that your ATI X800 came in and save it for use as a backup.
When handling your video card, avoid touching the copper contacts on the bottom edge.
