How to Remove or Revert Internet Explorer 7

By default, all new computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system come with the Internet Explorer 7 web browser installed. If you prefer to use a different web browser and do not want Internet Explorer on your computer, you can choose to uninstall it. If you want to upgrade to a newer version of Internet Explorer, you may also want to remove version 7 before completing the upgrade.

• PC computer running Windows XP or Vista

1. Log on to your computer with an administrator account and make sure all Internet Explorer windows are closed.

2. Open the Start menu and select "Control Panel."

3. Double-click on the "Add or Remove Programs" icon.

4. Click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button on the left side of the window.

5. Uncheck the box next to "Internet Explorer."

6. Click the "Next" button and confirm your decision to remove the program. The uninstallation process will begin and should last no longer than five minutes.
