How to Hang Tiki Torches

Tiki torches are a festive and creative way to enhance a party or just an everyday walking path. Hanging up bamboo tiki torches is simple, and a PVC base will last and be stable for a long time.

Things You'll Need

• Tiki torch wicks
• Tiki torch oil
• 4-foot lengths of PVC plastic pipe, slightly larger diameter than the bamboo pole
• Sand (no more than 3 1/2 pounds)

Instructions

1. Decide how many tiki torches you want to hang and where you want to place them in your lawn or around your path or patio. For a medium-size lawn, consider installing about 5 tiki torches.

2. Push the PVC pipe down into the dirt about 3 inches so that it will provide a secure stand for the tiki torch.

3. Fill the tiki torch's bamboo pole halfway up with sand to provide an anchor.

4. Insert the tiki torch pole into the PVC pipe firmly and securely. Push it down deep and make sure that, although the torch hangs off a little to the side, it will not fall to the ground.

5. Let the wicks of the tiki torch soak up the oil, which usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Light the tiki torch wick when dusk starts to fall. Keep a close eye on the flame coming from the wick until you are sure that the Tiki torch will burn safely without close supervision.
