How to Make Ceramic Tile Picture Necklaces
Tile necklaces can be expensive to buy, but ceramic tiles are an inexpensive source from which to make these attractive pendants. It takes a little practice to make ones that are just as beautiful as the store-bought versions. You can also personalize them to your tastes when you make your own, guaranteeing a one-of-a-kind accessory.
Things You'll Need

- Diamond glaze
- Photo or drawing
- Mod Podge

1
Prepare the ceramic tile by sanding any netting or paper from the back. Use sandpaper that can be used when wet. Soak the tile in a bowl of water for a few minutes, then sand the back.

2
Cut your picture to the size of the tile. You can also cut it a bit smaller and center it on the tile so the ceramic tile will make a border around the picture. Use the foam brush to place a thin layer of Mod Podge on the tile and smooth your picture on the tile. Allow it to dry completely, then brush a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the picture to seal it.

Place two drops of the diamond glaze in the center of the tile and use the Popsicle stick to smooth it to the edge. Use more diamond glaze a drop at a time until the tile is completely covered. Be careful not to allow the diamond glaze to run off the edges of the tile. Allow this to dry for 6 hours.

Once the tile is dry, flip it upside down and center your aanraku bail in the center of the top of the tile. Use a small dot of jewelry glue to attach the bail and allow it to dry for 1 to 2 hours. Place it on your favorite chain, and it's ready to wear.

Tips & Warnings
Use ceramic tiles in different shapes and sizes to make more distinctive necklaces. You can paint directly on the tile, then seal it with Mod Podge instead of using a picture or photo.
Cover your work surface before working with diamond glaze. Wear a face mask when sanding.
